Robert Austrian is a dedicated advocate who has committed his legal career to helping injured victims and their families obtain justice. As an Associate Attorney at our Staten Island law firm since 2022, Mr. Austrian brings passionate advocacy and aggressive litigation skills to every case, tirelessly fighting for successful client outcomes.
Before joining Grandelli & Eskenasi, one of the premier law firms in Staten Island, Robert Austrian served as an Assistant District Attorney with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. During this time, he handled hundreds of criminal matters and gained extensive litigation experience across various criminal issues. His experience advocating for crime victims provides him with a unique perspective that enhances his representation of negligence victims.
Mr. Austrian’s legal background also includes valuable experience as a paralegal and law clerk at a major national firm, where he worked in the Environmental/Toxic Tort practice group. There, Robert Austrian contributed to complex products liability cases involving major government contractors and premises liability matters. He also directly participated in a high-stakes intellectual property federal bench trial.
In addition to his civilian practice at our Staten Island law firm, Mr. Austrian serves as an officer in the New York Army National Guard Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. In this role, he advises commanders on various military and civilian legal matters. Before joining the JAG Corps, he served as a Field Artillery officer, leading a platoon of 105 mm howitzers and coordinating artillery support with infantry maneuvers as a fire support officer.
Robert Austrian graduated cum laude from Brooklyn Law School, distinguishing himself as a member of the Moot Court Honor Society – Trial Division. His exceptional skills earned him the Best Cross-Examination award at the Judge Paul Joseph Kelley Jr. Invitational Trial Competition and the Smiley & Smiley LLP Award for Excellence in Trial Skills. Among the leading law firms in Staten Island, we particularly value his academic excellence, demonstrated by his two C.A.L.I. Excellence for the Future Awards for achieving the highest grades in Criminal Procedure – Adjudication and Real Estate Finance. He also earned a Certificate in Criminal Law With Distinction.
Remarkably, Robert Austrian completed his law degree on time with these impressive accomplishments despite being ordered to active duty in the Army National Guard during his final year of law school.
